Renouf is the creator and the leader in Perth for personal training services. Established in 1992, with over 25 years experience, Renouf Personal Health & Fitness Studios and owner Rod Shuttleworth have been impacting the lives of clients, fitness professionals and their local communities.

So when we asked “what can we do better?” – It was more than losing weight, more than just the physical changes seen on the outside.

Our Approach

Our approach to workouts and overall wellness combines four key areas: training, nutrition, mindfulness, and community. Reinforcing each of these ’Four Degrees of Fitness’ puts you in the best stead for long-term positive change.

1° Training

Let’s get physical… and technical

A training program which is designed for weight-loss, toning up and feeling better will be designed with multiple components. If you’re looking to lose a few kilos and to feel better, we’re ready to back up your progress with scientifically-proven training.

Training through science

Your program will include more than you will ever know. Which is the point – you don’t need to know the science behind the training program – but we do.

Your Renouf ProCoach

A Renouf ProCoach has a minimum 10 years experience as a personal trainer and will be meeting with you to discuss your goals and to gain insight into your current physical abilities and which steps are required to move you forward safely.

2° Nutrition

What is the best diet plan?

None, really. You see, we’re nutritional skeptics. Let’s replace the word ‘diet’ with ‘habit’. While meal-plan approaches require you to choose between Vegan, Paleo, Mediterranean, or other “labeled” diets, habit-based approaches doesn't force this choice.

This means our progressive systems of habits, lessons, and assignments can work equally well for vegetarians (who eat no meat) or meatarians (who eat mostly meat).

Of course, we do believe that a healthy diet generally consists of:

  • Whole, minimally processed foods
  • Carbohydrates based on activity levels
  • Enough protein to meet your needs
  • A healthy mix of different fats
  • Lots of plant-based foods
  • Plenty of water

Our method is about making it easy to stay consistent. We’ll teach you how to make balanced meals (keeping within your abilities in the kitchen) and make better choices when eating out. You want to keep your social life after all; eating out should not be a chore because it doesn’t match your ‘plan’ exactly.

Through lessons, assignments and daily habits, we help clients find the right mix of all these foods for their goals, lifestyle, and preferences.

3° Mindfulness

Know your mind, change your world.

How we deal with change psychologically is fundamental to the long-term success of your program. After all, the body achieves what the mind believes. Practising mindfulness, as we’ll explain below, puts us in better control of ourselves. It makes us less reactive to the perceived stresses in daily life, and allows us to make better choices.

What is ‘mindfulness’?

There’s no need to sit atop a mountain for this. Mindfulness involves consciously bringing awareness to your here-and-now experience with openness, interest, and receptiveness.

Mindfulness is about waking up, connecting with ourselves, and appreciating the fullness of each moment of life. It is a profound way to enhance psychological and emotional resilience.
